Places to Go and People to Meet
Hi everyone,
Are you one of the 600 people already registered to join us in Baltimore for Bouchercon 2008-Charmed to Death? Are you on the fence? Still wondering should I?
Well of course you should. But if you need a little convincing still remember we have been given special room rates in two of Baltimore's most Charming hotels, The Sheraton City Center and right next store the Radisson Lord Baltimore. The convention itself looks to be a funfilled and informative four days. The regisration list is being updated at least weekly at this point so for a look at who your fellow attendees are please go to the website, Charmed to Death.
The Star? Baltimore herself. For dining experiences, outside events, help planning your trip and even special deals visit baltimore.org .
Here in the trenches we're in full on planning mode. All those registered will be receiving mail from us in the next few weeks and the events Calendar is starting to fill up. As a head's up please know that the Anthony Awards will be presented during a Sunday Brunch this year so if you'd like to attend make sure you don't schedule a plane/bus or automobile before 4:00 p.m. Sunday Oct. 12th. Also panels will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. on the morning of the 9th.
What have I seen of Baltimore that I don't want anyone to miss? Fell's Point is still my favorite. Perhaps I love it because it's like pounding the beat with Pembleton and Bayliss. Certainly, the many shops, restaurants and bars contribute. The Gelato here is as good as anywhere in the world. And it's right next to Mystery Loves Company, Baltimore's very own independent mystery book store.
Another suggestion? The Babe Ruth Museum . For baseball fans' this museum is a must stop on any trip and don't forget Camden Yards a short walk from our hotel.
I invite everyone who has a favorite Baltimore stop to share here. Especially if it's off the beaten path.
Ruth
